Walking through January - Day 25

I hadn't met to walk quite that long. But the weather was good and I was with a friend -- on the phone. We had a wonderful day dream about a hiking trip we could take together in August.

After we finished the call I found myself a bit further from home than anticipated. While making my way back to the main trail, I found this remarkable dying tree brimming with life. What caught my eye first was the flashes of light in the deep wooden caves. Looking closer I found that the holes the wood peckers craved had become incubators full of baby fungi.

Nature continues to give me thrills of delight!
